Having Gone, Disciple All the Nations
Making disciples is our role in God’s Strategy
Who is Fellowship Bible?
Loving God is a revelation of who God is.
Loving People is a revelation to what God has done.
Making Disciples is a reality of why God left us here.
Matthew 28:16-20
-This is a significant meeting.
“directed” – a scheduled meeting
“the eleven” – with chosen disciples
“to Galilee” – an important place
-This is an encouraging meeting.
“worshipped” – they more clearly knew Jesus was the Messiah
“but some doubted” – not sure how He would reign
“All authority…” “…with you always” – they trusted His promise
-This is a hard meeting.
Change of plans - “go”, Lighthouse to flashlight
Change of sign – “baptizing”, circumcision to baptizing
Change of ownership - “in the name”, Father to the Trinity
Change of Audience – “all nations”, exceptions to heirs
Change of message - “I taught you”, Moses to Jesus
-The Messiah is entrusting us with His message, covenant, and people.
What can we leave with?

How can you become more intentional about discipleship?

Matthew 28:16-20
- Read verses 16-17. How would you describe the setting of this event in Jesus’ life as explained in these verses? How did the disciples respond to the presence of Jesus? Why do you think they responded this way? If you were with the disciples, how do you think you would have responded?
- Read verse 18. What did Jesus first say to the disciples? Why do you think he started this way? What can you learn from this verse that applies to your life?
- Read verses 19-20. The main verb in this passage is “make disciples”. Do you think this is a command or a request? Take a moment to look up the definition of a disciple. How do these verses describe and explain what it looks like to “make disciples”? What does a Great Commission lifestyle look like in real life? How does the last sentence in verse 20 help encourage you in striving to make disciples?
- So what? Why do you think this passage is frequently called the Great Commission? How would you summarize this Great Commission? How does this Great Commission apply to our church? How does this Great Commission apply to your life? How are you doing in living out the Great Commission in your life?
